How It Works

How It Works

Step One: Find a Service Package

We have two different service packages to accommodate each client's tax needs. Check out the different packages and find the one that meets your tax situation. If you are unsure of which is right for you, then shoot us an e-mail and we can help! Luckily, this may be the "hardest" step.

Step Two: Complete the Online Form

Now that you have selected a package, the next step is to send our eTaxHero team the information necessary to complete your tax return. Select the corresponding form and provide us with your information. (Psst -- our site and servers are secured to protect your personal information.) All this information is required for us to accurately complete your tax return.

Step Three: Upload your Tax Documents

After we have your information, we then need your tax documents. Towards the bottom of the online form, you will upload all of your documents (W-2, 1098, 1099, IRA contributions, receipts, bank statements, etc.). You just need to digitize your documents and send it our way. So, you can scan, take a photo, or whatever. As long as you can get us a legible copy of your tax documents, we can use it to process your tax return.

Step Four: Ta-Da!

At this point, your work is complete. If something is missing, then one of our eTax Preparers will contact you to retrieve it. Otherwise, you can relax knowing that you are in good hands. Our team will prepare your taxes, maximize your tax refund, e-file your return, and send you a password-protected copy of your tax return.

Form Security

In order for eTaxHero to file your tax return, we must collect sensitive information. To help protect you and your information, we use Encrypted Forms. An Encrypted Form is one where your responses are transferred and stored in an encrypted format. They are encrypted in your browser and can not be seen by anyone else at any time. Once you submit your form, we receive an email notification; this notification does not contain the form itself or any of your information you submitted. To gain access to this information, we must use a Private Key to unlock the encryption on your form. At that point we can see your data and start to process your return.

If you are uncomfortable with supplying some information through the form, fill in the input box with all zeros for number inputs or text that reads "Will Submit Later" for text box fields. Please note that standard email is not a secure way to transfer this information to us; you will either have to call us or send the documents through the mail.
